10 Years prior to current game:
- Unhappy with the unsafe labor conditions, the workers of the foundries in Hive Essen began to make demands. Early on these were largely ignored as there was no real way for them to speak out. (my character is about 15 at this point)
- Spurred on by the success of the tales of the unionization of the ore hauling and road building (this was easier because the dangers of the wastes made keeping good workers important, as replacing them with scabs was very expensive) The foundry workers make their first attempt at unionizing. the demands were simple, better safety protocols, shorter work day, etc. the Hive hit hard, they fired and evicted all the leadership, reorganized labor bringing in slave labor as a thinly veiled threat.
- Eventually under the strain of the new harsh rules the workers banded together and went on an all out strike, freeing the Goliath slaves and enfranchising the Peren into the union.
